Faculty & Staff

It takes a special person to work with children, and at little people's place we have strict requirements for those interested in joining our team and we have more accumulated years of experience than any other center in Carroll County.

All Little People's Place teachers and caregivers are trained and certified in early childhood development, and all primary teachers hold a bachelor’s degree in education. All of our teachers are CPR and first aid certified and are required to keep their credentials current.

Mrs. Mary Burke, is the Program Director and owner of little people's place. Mrs. Burke (with over 39 years of experience exclusively in preschool childcare) opened our childcare facility in 1974 and has since completed her Master's Degree in Counseling. Her vision has been the driving force behind the center's success and her creativity and knowledge have helped us remain a leader in Westminster.

Cindy Plantholt was and continues to be, our first and only office manager. Her expertise creates and maintains a constant and dependable business atmosphere that guarantees smooth sailing for children, parents, and staff. She is indispensable to everyone.

Marianne Cross, Associate Director, has 22 years of preschool experience with us and does an excellent job of running a tight ship in the absence of the director. Her devotion to Little People's Place is immeasurable and is reflected in the loving, safe, and fun-filled environment enjoyed daily by children, families, and staff. She is the only person trusted with the awesome position of responsibility of the center in the absence of the owner.

Cathy Hoff, primary teacher, has 20 years experience. Her excellent teaching techniques and classroom management skills make Cathy a model for all our tentative employees. She is no less than amazing, loved and appreciated by all.

Pat Arbogast, Senior Staff, has 21 years of early childhood experience. Ms. Patty Pooh is our resident unsung hero. Some of her many hats include: Kindergarten chorus director, field trip coordinator, nurse, advisor, and unofficial staff representative. We would all be truly lost without her.

All of our other primary staff members have between 3 and 15 years experience and all new staff initially do their student teaching at Little People's Place so that their initial philosophy directly corresponds with ours.

We welcome you to join our close knit, happy family.
